Rouxville was founded in 1863 as a church centre and meeting place for the farming community on the farm Zuurbult owned by Petrus Weppenaar and named after the Reverend Pieter Roux.
This is the smallest southern most town in the south-eastern Free State, a little gem, waiting to be discovered.
The village is an ideal place to have as a base for exploring the area. Zastron is 30km to the east, Aliwal North 35km south, Smithfield 37km north and Bethulie 90km to the west. Lesotho is also an easy pop in and look.
